Project Controls lead owning integrated schedule and cost/change control, converting multi-party inputs into resource-aware master schedules, baselines, and dashboards across EPC phases.


Role Overview

You’ll own the integrated schedule, cost/change control, progress measurement, and the data model that ties them together. Day to day you’ll collect and organize information from multiple disciplines and suppliers, maintain a single source of truth, and drive clear, timely decisions using MS Project and MS Excel. Syngas plant experience is a plus; logistics exposure is valued.

Key Responsibilities

Planning & Baselines

  • Build and maintain a fully logic-linked, resource-aware master schedule in MS Project covering engineering, procurement, fabrication, logistics, construction, and commissioning.
  • Set up WBS/CBS, calendars, codes, and progress “rules of credit”; establish and manage baselines.

Project Controls

  • Support cost control in Excel (budgets, commitments, forecasts, contingencies); deliver monthly cost/schedule reports.
  • Run change control and quantify schedule/cost impacts with auditable logs.
  • Maintain risk/issue registers and ensure mitigations are reflected in plan and forecast.

Data & Recording

  • Collect, clean, reconcile, and organize data from internal teams and vendors (deliverables lists, RFIs, equipment lists/MTOs, expediting, FAT/SAT, shipment readiness).
  • Produce weekly dashboards and management reviews with crisp variance narratives and trend analysis.

Discipline and Interface Management

  • Coordinate handoffs across Engineering, Procurement, Fabrication, & Logistics; surface and resolve interface risks early.
  • Align logistics milestones (Incoterms, carrier bookings, permits, customs, laydown/warehouse) with the master schedule.

Execution Support

  • Lead schedule reviews with partners and vendors; challenge logic, durations, and progress claims.
  • Support contracting strategies (deliverables, milestones, reporting) and readiness for major events (IFD/IFC, PO placement, & module shipment.

Governance and Improvement

  • Capture lessons learned and improve templates and checklists.

Required Qualifications

  • Experience on capital projects (industrial process, energy, chemicals, or related).
  • Intermediate to expert MS Project (integrated schedules, baselines, resource loading, critical path/float, what-ifs).
  • Intermediate to expert MS Excel (advanced formulas, pivots, lookups/index -match, data modeling, probabilistic models; comfort building cost/progress tools).
  • Practical understanding of Engineering, Procurement, Fabrication, Logistics, Construction, and Commissioning and how they interface.
  • Strong information management: able to collect and organize data from multiple sources into clear trackers and reports.
  • Clear written and verbal communication; concise variance explanations; strong meeting facilitation.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Logistics experience (heavy haul, modules, packaged equipment, international shipments, customs/permits, laydown planning) a plus.
  • Syngas/industrial gas or related process-plant experience a plus.
  • Exposure to risk analysis, and stage-gate processes a plus.
  • Familiarity with tools like SharePoint/OneDrive, ERP, Power BI; Primavera P6 literacy a plus.
  • Cost Estimating experience a plus.
  • Document Control experience a plus.
  • Supply Chain & Contract Management experience a plus.

Location Requirement

Applicants must currently reside in the Houston, TX area and be within reasonable driving distance of George Bush Intercontinental Airport (IAH) area. This is an on-site position; remote work is not available. Relocation assistance is not provided.
